It's very hard to keep in a determined dog. One of our dogs, a golden retriever mix, even figured out how to find the shorted out spots in our electronic fence. He would walk the perimeter, smelling the line, and digging out where it was shorted out. He was too damn smart. One of our later rescue dogs was very traumatized as a puppy and terrified of any young boy with a stick or tennis racket. He was so scared, he thought he had to attack them and would furiously try to get out of the yard and to them as they walked by. We live 4 houses down from the tennis courts. We went to 2 c-clamps on the gate so he couldn't get it open. He got our other dog to pull on the gate with him and with both of their efforts was able to pop open the gate. He was psycho for a long time, but he was sure smart.

..in. We spent the better part of a hot summer day building that enclosure. We even took the time to cover half of the enclosure with a new tarp for shade. It was a thing of beauty. Sorry, no video of our 6' high chainlink enclosure.

Well with sweat rolling down our foreheads into our eyes we look at each other a said "Miller time". We check one last time to make sure the dogs had water and the gate was latched. Check and check. Turn to walk back to the house craving the cold beer that waited. Before we reached the steps up to the deck. BOTH dogs shot past us and went right to the door and barked to be let in.

We swore a little laugh a little and had the cold beer. In fact, considering our failure we had SEVERAL cold beers and plotted our next move.

The following weekend we covered the second half of the roof with wire mesh. Success at last.

Thanks again.

to our shock to go after my nieces dog that was visiting. I had to have an 8ft fence for my Labs kennel of I'd find him roaming the neighborhood.

at the dog park. That dog loved to roam. Pulled up its lead ontime and dragged it and a bunch of other stuff across the neighborhood.

We loved that dog. It was very protective of my daughters.

We got a rescue border collie and I think the reason she went to the pound was because of her ability to escape. She was able to go over a 4' fence like it was nothing. So I ripped out our old fence and installed a 6' wooden fence. The next day she was out. Keep in mind this dog was only 40lbs.

The dog was too smart to escape while we were watching her. I finally found scratch marks in the corners and figured out she was getting out by climbing up. So I installed some cables stretched across the corners at the top to break her climb and she never got out again.

She lived to be 17 and she's been gone for over 10 years now. I still miss her all the time.
