So Jeannie ordered dinner from Texas Road House.

We live out of town so drove in to pick it up. When we got home, 20 miles
later, we discovered it was the wrong order. She called and they said they would
deliver our order (no one delivers out here). So they brought out the right order,
and let us keep the other order, plus gave us coupons for free future dinner.
So we're set for days. Our stuff plus ribs, chicken and baked potatos.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people were working there.
About 8 outside helping customers with their pickups, plus several inside
bringing stuff out, plus cooks, etc. Jeannie likes to give business to local
restaurants, many of which advertise on the radio stations she (business)
manages.

Hey - they are both considered essential businesses around here!

And I'd rather patronize them for a virtual night out than just pick up beer and steak at Walmart.

But the way it went down we got twice as much food plus coupons,
so there's that....

I drove up, popped the trunk, they put it in, shut the trunk, and I brought it home. Hands-free.

After taking years to successfully overcome crippling shyness, now I'm forced to avoid human contact. I feel like Burgess Merideth in "Time Enough At Last".

I'm a bit shy, but not enough to keep me from running around the house
naked with my underwear on my head.

Mrs. Aristus helped bring me out of my shell over twenty-plus years, but I still stay stapled to her side when we're at parties.

The need to make small-talk terrifies me. If someone I don't know well engages me in small talk, I can hang in there for about five minutes, then start looking for a plausible "Oh, look at the time!" way out of it.

I've become good at the brief pleasant exchanges associated with paying for groceries, waiting in line someplace, or even picking up take-out from a nice young restaurant worker. Good enough that people don't think of me as shy.

Most of my friends, i.e., guys I play music with, have displayed massive
assholiness on occasion. Like friends do, we overlook each other's BS,
and carry on. But I'm OK alone.
