Anyone else having lots of allergy symptoms this week?

In our area, the pollen count is over 800.

I'm glad I don't have THE virus, but the congestion, runny nose, headaches, etc. of allergies aren't fun. The drugs that are relatively effective make me too sleepy to work.

Anyone else?

The pollen is overwhelming. It seems nature is taking back it’s world!

I was worried about her, but she's okay now. We're in the PNW, btw, and allergy season has been rough this year.

At least it washes some of the pollen out. It is beautiful though.

My allergies aren't too bad here. And I've lived in several different parts of the country, including the DC area.

However, there are juniper trees or bushes here (not sure which) that are the source of the worse seasonal allergies I've ever seen. The sufferers are beyond miserable. After I'd been here a year or so I decided that if I got the juniper allergy, I'd leave. Luckily for me that hasn't happened, and probably won't given I've been here eleven years now.

I'm also fortunate in that my allergies are generally contained by over the counter medications, so long as I remember to take them.

It's no small comfort to understand that seasonal allergies are because you have a hyper-active/hyper-vigilant immune system that is only trying to protect you.

allergies. I did not even know such a thing existed.

When we visited the desert (when I was a kid) it was the first time I ever felt really healthy.

There's no way to predict what you might become allergic to. All you can do is move some where and hope for the best. Having lived in various parts of the country, I've come to assume I'll have allergies wherever I am, and just hope they aren't too bad.

As I said above, I'm incredibly grateful that I did not get a juniper allergy, because that strikes me as the worst.

And I've been in places where if I walked by certain trees or bushes I suddenly start sneezing uncontrollably.

Actually, one time, visiting my mom in Tucson, my allergies were being exceptionally bad. She said something about never letting allergies get the best of her, and I swear, it's a wonder she got to live out her normal lifespan. That day I literally could not stop blowing my nose. But luckily for me, as I indicated above, OTC medication works well for me, so I went off to a pharmacy of some kind, got the medication, and in short order was fine.

Different juniper specie, but everyone is allergic to it, but me. (I've lived here almost 40 years)

They call them "Mountain cedar", but it's just a juniper. (Juniperus ashei) They dot the landscape west of San Antonio, but about 200 miles west, another juniper dominates.

perhaps I could live in San Antonio. Which is a truly wonderful place that I could consider. Other than the humidity. I'm spoiled by living at altitude and no humidity. But I have been to San Antonio and really love it.

The annual allergy freak out. I hate these things!

Eyes swollen shut, ears clogged up, headaches and everything else.

I mowed the yard today and had to shower immediately. My nostrils were not happy

On edit: Local honey and quercetin seems to help quite a bit
