(31,483 posts)When I was a kid, my dad inherited a canary after an aunt died. We kept bird gravel in his cage so he could digest his bitdseed. We also used to sprout bitdseed on a piece of wet sponge for him so he had greens to eat.
I haven't thought about that little bird in a long time. He would sing really loud when you ran the vacuum cleaner like he was trying to drown out the noise.

I used to eat chicken gizzards after cooking over a charcoal fire, wrapped in foil with skin added for fat and flavor. Over time I lost my taste for gizzards and hearts, but I still enjoy chicken livers prepared that way.
