Enjoying some Calvados, apple brandy from Normandy, France.
How was everyone's Saturday?
Film rec: "Anna And The Apocalypse". A British Christmas high school zombie musical, it has some prescient things to say about world-wide disasters, and they're funny as hell...

(66,294 posts)I have some slivovitz and some Napoleon brandy, too. Calvados is the best of the lot.

(66,294 posts)My step-daughter and son-in-law once sent me a bottle of brandy for Christmas, along with a snifter and a little rack and candle for warming it.
I tried it out just to be polite, and cared more for the effect than the taste; very relaxing...
Over time, I tried out several different varieties; slivovitz tastes the most like the industrial solvent you mentioned. Napoleon brandy is pretty good, but nothing to jump up and down about. Calvados is wonderful.

Sputtered out at the end, I thought, but this should hit the Venn spot between musical fans and zombie apocalypse fans.

My wife and I loved the hell out of the movie. Charming. That's the word. It was very charming.

(23,296 posts)Saturday was good here in MT. Sunny....warm...thank gawd! I mowed the lawn, moved a rhubarb plant, cleaned the chicken coop, washed my teenagers bedding down to the featherbed...I am tired but experimenting with Skrewball peanut butter whiskey tonight. Mixed with a splash of rye, half and half and a few leaves from my chocolate mint plant on the porch. Cheers! Hope all is good with you.
