I hadn't had a haircut since the first week of March and it was driving me crazy. I pulled out the barbershop-quality electric razor I bought when my son was little, picked out the longest attachment, (No. 5), and went to work. I moved that thing all over my noggin, moving every which way until hair stopped falling off my head.
The result wasn't too bad. All my hair is now about an inch long so it's kind of like a long buzz cut. At least the hair isn't hanging in my face any more. Besides, only my wife has to look at me!

(13,088 posts)A lost opportunity to grow out your gorgeous locks.
I love long hair.
I love it on women.
I love it on men.

(21,998 posts)For years, I had a long ponytail. At that time, I worked in an office where the dress code required suits and ties. The long hair worked well for my social life and by keeping it neat during the business day, I could pull it off.
Long hair, however, was too much work for me. I have to wash it every day and it would become snarled easily. Plus, it was always falling in my face.

Still cleaning up the odd longer grey hair that I seem to spot each time I brush my teeth.

(21,998 posts)This "new normal" sucks. Can't get a haircut. Can't go out for sushi. I need to get an oil change and that's a huge hassle.
Will this never end?!

(153,113 posts)are Americans really this delicate? I understand the angst about finances but.....haircuts and sushi? Nope.

(21,998 posts)The haircut was no big deal. I don't really need sushi but I do have to get my car's oil changed. It'll just take a little longer.
In fact, these past two and a half months have been remarkably productive for me. I've taken care of all of the backlog in my inboxes. I've been able to finish some creative writing projects that have been lingering. And the household projects that I've put off are getting accomplished.
I thought the haircut thing was funny since some people are willing to risk their health-- and society's-- by going bowling or drinking at a bar. I won't be participating in the Great Re-Opening Party that will bring more illness and death to Americans. This semi-quarantine has proven that I can run most of my business remotely and I'll continue to do so for the time being. I read a DUer's post who wrote that they'll wait until DisneyWorld reopens fully. That seems like a pretty good barometer.
I don't need or want to put myself in the line of fire.

I didn't think to take before & after pix.
Maybe next time...

(13,903 posts)Had to get on a waiting list online. Five minutes of, I drove over, texted my arrival. They are keeping numbers to a minimum. You wait outside until the stylist is ready.
Only three stylists, spacing in the shop, masks and gloves on the stylists. You take off the barber cape when they are done.

(21,998 posts)It was more adventurous for me to see what would happen! Of course, I don't really care about my appearance right now. (wink)
