Not like the burgers your mom made as a kid which were "just as good" as McDonalds Big Macs.

McDonalds fries also can only come from McDonalds. And after they get cold, even those are no longer McDonalds fries either.

We make something similar at our house...my kiddo calls them Egg McSandwiches. English muffin, eggs (scrambled for the kiddo, over easy for the husband, somewhere in the middle for me), sausage patty or bacon whichever is on hand, hot pepper cheese and a dash of green tobasco sauce. Sometimes I add avocado if they’re on the counter and ripe.

When my son was little and we were traveling and needed a quick on the go breakfast, if we even suggested McDonald’s, he would burst into tears. For real. He would cry “Mama, it’s not real food!” So, I started making a similar sandwich to pack in the cooler to avoid the meltdown. The child is 15 now and still won’t go to McDonald’s.

Wal-Mart has a bag of frozen, spicy round sausage patties that fits perfectly on an English muffin. I whip the eggs to blend with some hot sauce and cook them in those round silicone egg rings so they also fit nicely on an English muffin. We do like a bit of heat, so add 2 slices of pepper jack cheese and it's a quick and filling breakfast or brunch.

If you're really hungry serve your DIY egg mcmuffin with a side of hash brown. If I hadn't already had my breakfast, I go cook on right now!

Or I like the potato bites, which are like tater tots.

with tater tots!

Try 'em topped with chili, cheese and chopped onions and jalapeno peppers. Munch a bunch! Yum...

If you left your sausage-egg muffins uneaten, would they turn hard enough to become "play food" and gifted to children on Christmas?

Your muffins are surely much better!
