(21,050 posts)would the cat be jealous of a girl/boy friend?
My neighbor has a cat that wraps itself around her husband like that. When she goes near them the cat hisses at her. Ive taken care of that cat and its unlikeable. Her other cat is cool and likes to be petter and picked up to cuddle.

(21,050 posts)I had a friend years ago whos cat hated her boyfriend. It would hiss, and try to scratch the guy. He broke up with her because of the cat ( his excuse) Her next boyfriend who she ended up marrying had no problem with the cat and the cat never hissed or scratched him. We used to joke with her the cat knew the other guy was bad news instinctually.

(21,334 posts)but only on her terms when she feels like it. Definitely not a lap cat or cuddler. Totally opposite of my previous cat who was such a cuddler that I nicknamed him Mr. Love. He was a lot like the cat in this video, except for his coloring - orange tabby with white bib and socks.

(44,972 posts)He was pretty cuddly until I fed him. Then he ignored me until he felt the need for another feeding.

(21,334 posts)My current cat often gets very cuddly when she wants food. I sometimes get caught up in what I'm doing. and forget her feeding time. So she rubs my face if I'm sitting down or lays across my book or the keyboard, etc. until I feed her.
But this is preferrable to her other method of getting attention when she's hungry. If she doesn't use the affection angle, she knocks things on the floor. Books, papers on my desk, etc.
But, there are times when she is affectionate just for its own sake. She rubs my face or legs when it's not time to eat, taps my leg for me to play with her, or curls up next to me when I lie down. Half the time when she curls up like that, she wants me to scratch her head and ears and purrs loudly into my ear when I pet her. Other times, she gives me a massage by kneeding her paws on me.
But, if I try to pet her when she is not in the mood for it, she swats my hand away. I have to test her mood first by holding my hand and fingers limp near her face. If she wants to be petted, she will rub the limp hand or nudge it with her nose.

(21,334 posts)I miss every single one I've had. Each had its own personality, habits, and quirks. Since I am 70 and my current cat is 4, she is likely the last one I'll have.

(113,049 posts)of all. He does not like me out of his sight. He even grabs my pant leg and pulls back. And he likes pretty much whatever I am eating. My sweet little rescue.

If I touch my eyes after hugging or petting my girl, the eyes become an itchy nightmare. I have to wash my hands anytime I touch her. So even before the pandemic, I was washing my hands a lot. In fact when I first got her 14 years ago as an abandoned kitten baby in the driveway, I didn't think I could keep her. Allergies and asthma but we're still together!!
