Queen of Hearts game at our local Fish & Gun club last night.

Now... pay attention.

The jackpot was $119,703.

That is not a typo. There really are 6 digits in that jackpot figure.

Someone won it.

How keeps 40%, so the winner took home $71,821.80.

(My guy and I DID NOT win it--dammit!)

Did the pot all come from everyone else anteing up? If so, even if there were 100 people playing, that's $1,197.00 per person.

So the jackpot grows over time.

There absolutely was going to be a winner in 7 weeks as there were only 7 numbers left.

Oddly enough, I kept telling my guy to pick number 37 (my age, wink wink). Now, picking that number doesn't mean anything unless they pull your ticket. But card #37 was where the Queen of Hearts was hiding.

so it doesn't matter.

He's been playing about $20/month for the last 5 months, and they never pull his ticket.

As you can imagine, once the jackpot gets bigger and bigger, more and more people buy more and more tickets. Between last week and this week, there were more than 14,000 tickets sold. My guy only had 5 tickets in the pot.

I saw one woman purchase 50 tickets last night.

once the pot reaches a certain point, I'll buy a few just to be in the game. And who knows, right?!
