Were they the easy times?

You know what they say: "what doesn't kill you, makes you wish you were dead."

will experience peace.

Today I was crazy and I feel like my chest is going to explode. But truthfully I know that it was my reaction to everything that happened that is causing my pain.

There is a story about a town that had a Buddhist monk that lived on the outskirts. One young girl ended up getting pregnant out of wedlock with her boyfriend and because she was so afraid of her parents she told them that the monk was the father.

So the parents went to the monk and yelled at him for getting their daughter pregnant. All he said when they accused him was, "Is that so?" And after they told him that he had to raise the child he accepted it gracefully and took the child in.

After a few years the girl felt bad about what she did and wanted to have her child back so she told her parents the truth. They went to the monk and apologized and told him that they wanted the child back. And he said, "OK'

So he gave the child back and that was the end. The monk did not get upset. He did not feel pity or anger. He practiced radical acceptance and stayed peaceful.

That is what the Buddhist religion is about.

So we do find life hard but not all people feel that life is hard.

there would be no instructions by IKEA.

And if no IKEA, no college students.

If no college students, no philosophers.

Which renders first question impossible.

So I plan for the worst and if better happens I am pleasantly surprised. My husband considers me a pessimist, but I try to convince him that I am just hedging my bets.
