Never knew about the betty white version. Anyway they are all terrible.
John Cleese and the rest of the original cast were just perfect.

Sounds like a waste of incredible talent.
Fawlty Towers had everything -- crackerjack writing, hilarious performances, a brilliant cast, and most important the overarching theme of puncturing the flimsy facade of British pomposity. I love those shows so much. Think I'll pass on these pale imitations.

Is Marblehead Manor. It was only in syndication and didn't run long, but it was brilliant. I'll have to hunt it up to stream. Here is the intro to it:
Bonus notes - Phil Morris is the son of Greg Morris from the original Mission Impossible TV series and he was in the reprise of Mission Impossible on TV. This was the earliest show I saw Michael Richards in.
