Well sorta former. My friends and I had started up a campaign last fall. Between all our schedules, meeting up to play was limited, and then the pandemic hit and pretty much ended that for now. I don't even remember where we are at and what was going on. I left all my stuff at the DM's house lol.

No matter how we started, we usually devolved into a gang made up of chaotic evil characters.

But my one buddy is playing a chaotic neutral bard and is essentially playing as Deadpool with a lute and gong that he likes to hit right before we attack for some reason.

A few times in college. I don't think I have since college (I graduated in 1984).

I used to game in a business owned by Lou Zocchi who was a contemporary of Gary Gygax. Apparently Gygax approached Zocchi for his first RPG dice. Zocchi had his own RPG developed before D&D.

I think I might game again once I retire. I did enjoy it very much.

I sold all my old D&D stuff about 15 years ago. Probably didn't get full value for it, but I prefer to release stuff/books back into the wild so to speak. It was just collecting dust in the basement.

I started playing in 5th grade and all through middle school. I took a break in high school, but then had a weekly campaign in college. That was 30 years ago, and I really miss playing it.

He's been playing with basically the same group for over forty years. Now one guy's daughter also has a game night, too - or she did up until the Covid thing happened.

I get to hear about the more interesting of their adventures, though sometimes my husband come home pissed off about how the game went and he won't talk about it.

One of the stories is that a cousin of one of the guys knew Gary Gygax and was given a set of the proposal for the first edition to try out. The cousin loved it and sent a pirated copy to the local guy. He didn't give it out but got them all geared up for this new gaming system. As soon as the first edition of the AD&D rules came out, they all bought their own copies and started to play.

So they are well over 40 years playing together. They also play other strategy games and some of them have a bridge night together with others.

Then two years ago started playing regularly with a group of friends. We're playing a Starfinder campaign currently.
We play over zoom and it helps as all are schedules are different.

Been looking to get back to a D&D game as well. My last D&D campaign ended earlier this year.

I did try Everquest again recently. It didn't seem to have the same magic for me.

I remember buying a chest piece at the EC tunnel(Anyone that played will know what that is) and feeling like a god

Fond memories of both D&D and Everquest, though

I felt like a lot of choices in char building had been ripped out. Haven't had the chance to look over the fourth. Might do that soon(tm).

I started with 1st and Red Box Basic, skipped 2nd, hated 3/3.5, but 4th amazed me. It had some math issues at first but they got ironed out after a bit.

I currently play 5th because all my kid’s friends use it, so it’s easier to stay on the same page for our family gaming. It’s not bad at all, but my preference is 4th.
