HARTLEY, Iowa —
Bonnie Linder, of Hartley, steps out on her front porch every weekday morning to wave at the kids in the school bus that passes by.

On Sunday, Linder will be 93 years old. On Friday morning, she went out to give her daily wave when the kids on the school bus yelled back, "Happy birthday!"

Hartley in NW Iowa! Bet this was last winter. In Iowa the farms have eaten up everything except the yards and basically everything is an island among seas of corn and soybeans with a smattering of other minor crops. Agricultural desert!

To wave at the kids going to and from the elementary school a block away. What a sweetheart, and what a lovely memory to leave us with.
