I ADORE my rescue dogs...so I know the emotion she feels. But better AFTER she gets home......
Wonderful little fella....mom will be everything to you from now on. And you will be everything to her from now on.

(63,221 posts)I remember when I was growing up and I was crying, our darling beagle would crawl into my lap and lick my face to comfort me. She knew just when I needed her. She was just an angel. Dogs are our angels on earth.

(2,810 posts)We met her at the fosters house, and she scared me with her back up growling and teeth showing. We decided to try anyway. She was in the backseat, and I was front passenger. During our ride home I kept putting my hand back to her, trying to pet, or at least get her used to me. She didnt seem to warm, but didnt bite. It was a Sunday night. We stopped at a grocery store to tide us over with pet treats and food until we could upgrade to a pet store on Monday. I went into the grocery while my wife stayed with Goldie.
Apparently, when I left, Goldie began crying and jumped in the front seat just pining for my return. She saw me coming back, let me take my place in the front and then hopped on my lap, head on my shoulder, until we got home.
Once at home and somewhat settled in, she hopped on the couch, and again rested her head on my shoulder. Now, anytime I sound remotely stressed, she is up next to me with her head on my shoulder and reaching out her paw to tell me to pet her. Honestly, I have had several rescues and other beloved pets over the years, but this dog is my comfort dog. It is really amazing. We bonded in 2012, but theses past four years, she has had her work cut out for her. Luckily she can get some rest during her golden years. Good dog!
