...I just finished Line Of Duty and Im looking for my next slow binge. (Slow Binge equals about an episode per day.)
Its gonna be hard to beat Line Of Duty and all their balaclavas, Reg 15s, and bent coppers.
Any suggestions?

(6,261 posts)Morse's young years in the sixties. i had some qualms about it, but it's been terrific. It might even be the best of the three (Morse, Lewis, Endeavour)

(7,947 posts)I'll watch for Endeavor.
Ron Obvious
(6,261 posts)The production values and casting are terrific, and as with the other 2, the relationship between the main characters is possibly the best part of the show. Shaun Evans doesn't physically resemble a young Morse, but carries it off anyway. Roger Allam plays his boss and mentor, Inspector Thursday.
There are some characters from the original Morse series who also make cameo appearances in Endeavour on occasion but you'd have to really know your Morse episodes to spot them.

(21,105 posts)if you like tense smart detective shows, expand your horizons and watch Death Note (the series, not the horrible movie) on Netflix. Subbed of course.

(22,474 posts)put it on when I am going to sleep and put the timer on. For some reason I really like all the characters and they make me feel safe or something so I can relax and go to sleep.
And yea I know it's a murder mystery.

(38,601 posts)Did you watch all seasons of Line of Duty? I think I had to track one down on Acorn, but its a blur.
Those shows I named arent strictly police procedurals but theyre British and good.
Love the Scottish Taggart for its 70s vibe. 13 seasons maybe.
The Alibi is ok. Again, not police procedural.
Trying Whitechapel. Seems ok.
The one with doc Martin is pretty good. London Kills? I ferget.

(34,133 posts)Subtitles just don't work for me.
I'm either on the computer or doing needlework when the TV is on so my eyes are busy elsewhere. My husband laughs at me because I will be reading DU, playing solitaire on my phone, and have the TV going. It's hereditary - my parents read while they had the TV on - and we kids would be at the table working on our homework.

The Legacy (danish) is excellent. Borgen too.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,658 posts)It's kind of like The West Wing but with a parliamentary system, and somewhat darker. The Norwegian series Occupied (on Netflix) is also a really excellent political thriller.

(595 posts)I loved Scott and Bailey. 2 female detectives are the lead characters.
The Unforgotten is relatively new. The actress Nicola Walker has played in many UK shows that I like.
New Tricks is another series with 12 seasons. Retired detectives headed by a current woman detective superintendent. They solve cold cases.
Finally, Hamish Macbeth. This is based on a book series about a constable that lives in a small Scottish village. Robert Carlyle stars. He was also in Trainspotting and The Full Monty.

(618 posts)Am a huge fan of mysteries, including from the UK, Aust and NZ. Some I've seen recently: The Sounds, Keeping Faith, Mystery Road, Hidden, The Stranger, Safe, The Fall.
Old favorites are Midsomer Murders, Inspector Lewis, Vera, anything Agatha Christie, Doctor Blake Mysteries, Miss Fisher, Death in Paradise, Shetland,
Silent Witness, New Tricks. I'm sure I've forgotten some.

(42,541 posts)The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,658 posts)Every episode takes place entirely in a police interrogation room and an adjacent office where the cops do their planning. It's all about the psychology of solving crimes through the psychology of interrogation - no chases, shootings, or other violence except in descriptions and photographic evidence. It's quite well done and really interesting.
