Alright call me old-fashioned, but I utterly hate this version of a great Beatles song

Cadbury have inflicted this dreadful version of the Beatles' classic "Do you want to know a secret?" on us for the holiday season through advertisement.

Am I alone in utterly detesting tuneless, shapeless, jazzy remakes of classic songs? I've heard some doozies lately.

She can't sing!! She can't hold a melody!! She has a thin, reedy voice like gas escaping from a pipe!!

What the Fuck?!

And I can't believe the comments on this video! Have they never heard proper music before? Do they really not know any better?

We're boycotting Cadbury in this household this holiday season in protest.

Maybe the song got great after that to account for all the upvotes on youtube.

But I doubt it.

At the risk of pissing a lot of people off, this is why I no longer tend to watch the Grammys and American Music Awards-- so many overly produced, minimally talented, auto-tune-dependent hyped performers. When they destroy classic material, it offends.

And in answer to your question, sadly I think there are a lot of people who really have NOT heard good music and vocalists. Yeah, every generation criticizes those who come later, but damn... we've got two generational cohorts that, by comparison to past decades have sadly had few stand out performers and thus applaud the mediocrity.

I was pretty sure it couldn't just be me!

I'm reminded of those Youtube reaction videos of young people being exposed to our generation's music for the first time. They're generally pretty impressed:

"It's music from when men sang songs to the women they loved rather than call them bitches."

it's ripping off parts of classic songs like vultures picking over a carcass with the usual result being subpar "music" that completely bastardizes the original music.

Rant over. Happy Thanksgiving!

This is my favorite Beatles song. It isn't the jazziness of it that I don't like, rather it feels like it had all its soul sucked out. I hear a lot of singers using this style today. I am not sure what the idea of singing like this is, but it sounds to me like they are all doing bad imitations of Bjork.

I checked out her other stuff on YouTube and she ain't so bad. One-trick pony, vocally, from the four or five songs I sampled. But she can sing.

It remains, though, that everyone involved in that disaster of a Beatles cover should be punished.

Then I noticed that the singer herself is active on the comments.... Ooof!

I wouldn't want to hurt her feelings, but some kind friend should take her aside and suggest either singing lessons or an alternative career.
