(16,161 posts)My Ruby is a rescue kitty from the Humane shelter. Not quite this experience but Ive had her about 3 months and shes completely taken over! I wouldnt have it any other way. So very happy these kitties were not separated.. two are easier than one, believe it or not 🐾

(2,559 posts)And those kittens appear to be in the age range where human contact makes them amenable to people. Older, they tend not to trust humans without that early contact. Looks like the ones in the video were lucky to be the right age and in the right spot to be "discovered"...
My neighborhood has a LOT of feral cats. We don't know exactly why, but a nice lady down the street has trapped 14 of them and brought them into Fix Our Ferals and she is now feeding them. Another resident on the block has taken a number of ferals in for the same operation - I don't know how many. I've trapped and taken four of them in for fixing myself. One (a female mommy who reportedly had 2-3 litters) has adopted me and is comfortable inside and with human contact. She likes to sleep on my desk (on a towel on a repurposed in/out tray), but at the moment with the cold weather, she's gone back to preferring the bed. Another one (who I think is her daughter) is very shy and will tolerate only a little contact. Yet another one ( a big male) loves attention but on his own terms... while on the front porch, sitting on a bench, but he's not comfortable for very long inside the house. The fourth is quite wild and won't let me touch him.
During this pandemic these cats have become my friends - even the more feral ones.

(12,463 posts)Has anxiety.
When it gets bad he hunkers down in my bedroom bathroom and does not go out much.
He startles at everything my phone alarm, movements ect.
He has been anxious from day one.
I have no idea what he went through before I adopted him.
So he wears his thunder shirt 2 days on 1 day off.
He is very affectionate when he's not anxious.
He will not eat calm treats.
So he wears his shirt.
He seems to be slowly staying calmer for longer periods when his shirt is off for that day. Takes time I guess .
I hope someday he won't need the shirt to feel calm. It's a shirt day and he's curled up beside me. Purring.
I adore little O with all my heart.

(22,250 posts)one of them socialized right away, the second one took a little longer and eventually they were adopted together. The third one would not let anyone get near her.. She spent the first few days under the sofa..
We have had her 18 months and she still pulls back if we even look like we are thinking about touching her.
One day I said to my husband, "it's a shame that kitten is so untouchable" we looked at each other and said "Elliot Ness" Turned out Elliot Ness was a girl, so not she is Ellie.
So she doesn't want us to touch her but she has quit running under the sofa. However she has a gigantic crush on one of our elder cats. She loves to cuddle up with him at any opportunity and he is very sweet and tolerant of her. He is her support animal.
