The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI have a porcupine who comes to the same
place in my yard at almost the same time every afternoon. This is a wide open area on my lawn where he/she seems to be searching for something. The porc stays there for about an hour and then rambles back into the woods. I don't think there's anything in that area of the yard that would attract him/her, like salt.
Does anybody have any ideas/thoughts about this?

(27,240 posts)I got pretty geeked when I spotted raccoons and opossums on my back yard security camera. A porcupine would be an epic sighting.

(14,080 posts)I know I'm far too distant from and woodland for porcupines. I'd love to find some shed quills, though.
My niece just sent me a photo of a deer in her front yard. She lives in a very busy subdivision but is very close to a nature conserve. I've actually had deer in my yard, and I live right next to one of the biggest retail areas in the county. Nature just finds a way.

(2,533 posts)Maybe his home was there before. In my area they are gobbling up all the open space and many animals are displaced.
