...Yes...Solitaire...that card game that you can play on the computer, and then you play again and
again, sometimes until you finally win a game. And then we feel relieved that we won, until we play
again, and again...(We used to play it with real playing cards, but playing on the computer is much
easier...and easier...and easier ..so we can play ....again..and again..and again and again....
...WHAT IS THE POINT???................????.......?????....................
...If you play for a while, you know you will win some and lose many. As we learn different forms of
....SOLITAIRE...and play the games, we all learn one simple quality in life that many people lack, and that skill is extremely important in business, education, and just dealing with people each day.
Many people lack that skill or life quality, but we all need it in order to thrive & live a good life..
Have you figured it out yet?...Well you needed that skill to get this far.....Yes, you did !!!!
...........THE IDEA IS PATIENCE......you know, being able to wait awhile and awhile longer....
We are in a world that says you can have it ...NOW, NOW AND NOW.............AND ALWAYS NOW!!
So many people in the world lack..PATIENCE. Some lucky people have a life experience that demands
PATIENCE..AND MORE PATIENCE... And the outcome of that life experience is a totally wonderful
outcome if everything goes right...got that one yet??? Many reading these words have had this
experience..and everyone reading these words has been part of the experience..PATIENCE..!!!
...When a woman gets pregnant and the baby is growing inside, the wait is OK, and the outcome
is a wonderful baby. The family wants to wait the full 9 MONTHS.. because that is what we do. People
learn patience with this experience and then forget it in the hurry of living the NOW LIFE...BUT...
mothers and dads want their children to grow up healthy & wise so much of the growing process
involves patience.. Then, patience is lost because of the ..NOW LIFE!!!!
We all want the ...INSTANT NOW LIFE...in one way or another..We learn it. The computer needs
start NOW...The car needs to start NOW!!!. I don't want to wait in line, I want my burger NOW!!
Think it over..This quality of PATIENCE..is very important, and we all need to learn and accept it
to live each day. Why? So many experiences take time, lots of time..and so many people are
in a rush that they forget the ........IMPORTANCE OF PATIENCE....
My point is that teaching PATIENCE SHOULD BE A REQUIREMENT IN ALL GRAMMAR SCHOOLS..
PATIENCE IS A LIFE SKILL THAT EVERYONE .."NEEDS TO KNOW"... AS WELL AS TO LIVE
LIFE ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS...One more point: We all know people who have NO PATIENCE,
and dealing with those people is often very difficult and sometimes almost impossible.

(18,402 posts)to clear my mind of stressful thoughts. You fall into the rhythm and focus solely on the cards and the game, and pretty soon all that stress, whether from work, politics, or personal issues just falls away.
Very effective and way cheaper than a therapist and easier way of achieving a meditative state.
I do it to soothe myself. Played it a lot in 2020.

(38,414 posts)I play it every day to take my mind off the bad news and bad thoughts. It works.

(7,947 posts)It's a "try, try again" game-- winnable, but usually with multiple efforts.
I find it helps me visually, as I have very little visual memory. You have to remember that there's a 5 of spades over there on the left, that sort of thing.
Depressingly, I keep casual track of how many I win... so that maybe I'll notice when I start losing brain cells to age.

(7,947 posts)All games are (as far as anyone knows) winnable, but not always on the first try. (In fact, for me, SELDOM on the first try!) It teaches persistence and the ability to come back after failure.
I think it also teaches some math concepts, but I don't know enough math to figure out what!

(36,667 posts)When my son was in high school, he had a game on his computer with a best win time. I played a few games and beat him... He got back on the computer and in one game stomped me..... That was over 20 years ago. He's almost back in the will now.

...I think I bought a book before the flight...and learned how to play while on the flight..Now..
a 13 hour flight is a long flight"...Sudoku worked going and coming...13 hours???

(1,192 posts)After my concussion and my brain was mush, I took a deck of cards and played solitaire. Physically picking up the red nine and putting it on the black ten helped restore bruised connections.
Then of course there is the madness of double, triple and quadruple solitaire. Although this great grandma can't keep up with the speed of her grandchildren.
As kids we never traveled anywhere without a deck of cards.

(6,791 posts)I actually see it more as persistence, though it's really a combination. but I tell people that if I really had patience, if I were truly accepting of the item I'm working on not being finished ... then it wouldn't be. Or at least not for a lot longer time.
