I prefer over ear Bluetooth headphones, but post the ones you like.
My favorites are the Sony XM3 Bluetooth over ear headphones. Out of the box they sound a bit muted, but after adjustment in the app they sound great.
I have also liked the Tribit Xfree Xtune and still testing the Anker Soundcore Q30.

For $300ish try the B&W PX7's...

(65,173 posts)I wont be able to get an expensive one for a while, but thanks for the recommendation.
I hope I like the Soundcore Q30 because I got them as a second pair. My Tribits are becoming worn already. I like how the Soundcore sounded on Tom Pettys Free Fallin. But on a song like the eels Last Stop: This Town, it way overdid the bass section. Maybe I can adjust it.

(12,436 posts)Couldn't disturb the parents as a teen so "lived" inside my headphones.
Over the decades have built multiple high end audio systems for myself but still enjoy headphone listening.

(9,165 posts)That said, Ive used AKG K240s since I was in radio back in the mid 70s. Before that, I used Koss Pro 4AAs. I do not recommend those unless you like cans that are hot, heavy, and distort at high levels juuuuuust enough to give you a headache. 🤕

(2,023 posts)Studio quality headphones. I paid $100 for them. That's one hundred 1986 dollars, I don't know how much that is now but it seemed like a lot to me then. I'm still listening to them, and they still sound great. In fact, I take them with me on planes because they sound way better than those silly things the flight attendants give you. Or at least, I used to take them with me on planes, back in those halcyon days when I used to be able to fly to fun and interesting places. I hope those halcyon days will return soon.

(54,770 posts)hated wearing them. They were heavy and too isolating.
For listening to music nowadays, I find the cheapest Grado model really nice because they are open, light, and airy. Mine are old, but I think the current designation is GRADO SR80e.
Used to spend a good bit on HiFi stuff, including tube amps and big speakers. Nowadays Im perfectly happy with my IPhone, Amazon Prime, and my headphones because I can get just about any music, even esoteric stuff.
Dont really listen to much music unless Im noodling on my guitar, mandola, or bouzouki. But, I get why others do and the pleasure of getting every little bit of sound out of ones equipment.
