Visited Dad tonight at the nursing home. He likes his soup. He was eating on a tray in his room.

Sent me back for two refills of potato leek. Then he demanded both i and a health care aide go down to the main kitchen in the basement of the building and get even more. He asked us separately. We both assured him we would because as a sensitive person he can tend to roar. He will have forgotten 30 seconds after (the roar and the soup) so there is no point in teaching him. Was a pleasant visit otherwise. I'm so lucky i have been able to visit for the last months. I live 5 blocks from him. I also got a pfizer vaccine early because i was considered a designated caregiver in that long term care home.

fall, who could be two people per resident who could visit provided they get tested and wear appropriate ppe. Us, the staff and the residents all got the first vaccines. The premier, Doug Ford was so unpopular in Ontario because he tried Trumpian tactics when he first got elected. He was the only one who got booed at that Giant Toronto Raptors parade. Point is he went full on cooperating with the federal Liberals and Justin Trudeau during this pandemic and his numbers have gone up. Thank god he didn't follow Trump. Anyhow our loved ones were suffering for not have attention. Dad aged years at the times staff could wheel him to a window or outside. He was desperately blowing kisses at us as we left one time. Things like that hurt as just about every family knows. So the government came up with a plan to allow two people in. My dad has a lovely person and great friend in weekdays. I go in weekends. My sister comes from Toronto and switches out with us on occassion. It makes such a big difference. I wish that for all families across the planet. Very soon.

I’ve been so worried I would bring COVID home to husband who is 85 with some health issues. He had his second shot about 3 weeks ago. I don’t go out often and am very careful but even so I’ve been scared. I was taking my older sister one afternoon for her shot when a friend called and told me AZ had just dropped the clip level to 55. Her appointment was the last of the day at a grocery store pharmacy so I asked if they had an extra since I now qualified and they said yes they had an extra.

Next milestone is being able to have my small book club meet at my house again in another 5 weeks or so.

You pay what you can. An excellent place. The waiting list is long though. During the initial lockdown they had (layed off) city parks and recreation people at the home to individually help out the residents. I think the city probably sent them to even the private long term care homes too. Still it was hard. Their buggest outbreak was 3 staff people. Only two residents got covid and they both survived. There were many lockdowns. They are still really strict.

Best wishes to you and yours.
