I just recently got into collecting dolls for a hobby and already I'm ending up with a huge collection. A lot of older people are dying now and getting rid of their collections which are worth far less now, seems there's way less interest among the younger generation. And frequent trips to the flea markets and thrift stores with $1-$2 dolls...well, it's a fun hobby for me anyway if no one else can appreciate how beautiful they still are.

And some consulting for her addiction and cancelling her QVC accounts. It was two truck loads of stuff we took to her late parents home. Half of them were the dolls.

I have one for Anne Boleyn, Lucrezia Borgia, and Marie Antoinette. I am looking for the one I can dress up as Lizzie Borden.

(1,969 posts)Pro tip she had tens of thousands of dolls still in boxes and netted only about $1200 at auction.
Like most collectibles, they are very valuable till you try to sell them.

(1,718 posts)She had an incredible collection, those bigger ones still go for hundreds of dollars. I got lucky recently and found a 32 inch Gadco doll for only $50.

(16,908 posts)And we live in the area where Lee Middleton dolls were made.
My neighbors dolls are beautiful. But many resemble her. There is a standing doll, about 4 ft. high and she is like my friend's twin.
I don't collect them myself, but I have known many doll collectors over the years. I hope you have fun finding treasures.
