(66,316 posts)No question about it. Magnificent film. Olivia de Havilland was ravishing. Basil Rathbone made a fantastic villain.

(6,582 posts)Is there a taste-detectable difference between Vodka made from potatoes and Vodka made from (I think) grain?
Just getting ready to have some Bacardi Spiced Rum, myself.
I'm still pissed off that they discontinued their Oakheart line.
Oh well... anyway, yo-ho-ho, here I go!
We love ya right back, Kiddo!

(113,259 posts)bourbon sweet potatoes?
Aristus
(66,316 posts)But no; not yet...
niyad
(113,259 posts)Easy to do. Parboil sweet potatoes until almost done. Cool, peel slice or cube. Place in buttered casserole dish. Bourbon, brown sugar and butter to taste. Cover. 350 for 30-40 minutes. About 1/4 cup bourbon per person about right. Do keep covered so you don't set fire to the oven as one person I know did!
You might like a marinade I learned years ago. Looks disgusting, but tastes great. Equal parts bourbon, soy sauce, Dijon mustard and honey. I used to use it on a London broil, marinated overnight, with broiled stuffed tomatoes and saffron rice.
Aristus
(66,316 posts)I'll have to make it sometime.
That and the London Broil. The marinade sounds perfect.

(113,259 posts)Shhh, don't tell anyone, but sometimes, with the sweet potatoes, I cheat and use . . . .canned yams. Just slice or dice and continue with recipe.
