(3,695 posts)No, no clues will be provided to suggest which (as the words say) Springfield USA (OK, that is a clue that it is not in England, NZ or Liberia); I do know if the Simpsons live there.
Decades ago the Springfield Plan changed my life forever. Well actually it changed my brother's life from 4th grade on. Nonetheless, because actions have consequences, the Springfield plan lead directly to my meeting my wife some decades later and still decades ago.
I am where I am today (Uruguay) as a result of the Springfield Plan (Wikipedia link).
And that just goes to show the power of education.

I briefly worked as a waitress in Worcester in the early 70s.
A woman came into the restaurant and ordered a coffee cabinet. I hemmed and hawed and told her we didn't sell furniture!
It was explained to me that what I knew as a milkshake in New Jersey, and a frappe in Massachsetts, was called a cabinet in some parts of the state.
Totally Tunsie
(10,885 posts)Coffee milk is the official state drink of RI, but throw in some ice cream and whisk it up and it becomes the fabulous coffee cabinet. A milkshake in RI is typically just milk and flavored syrup frothed together.
A cabinet is the equivalent of a frappe in Massachusetts. The name "cabinet" comes from the storage of ice cream in a cold cabinet (chest).

He was the late 19th Century Governor who disenfranchised the black voters. He then served several terms as Senator, and famously wept on the floor of the Senate about a bill to mandate that blacks be allowed to vote because, as he said, it would induce them to behave badly and (paraphrase) We are going to have to kill a lot of our good colored folks to get them back in line.
We took down the rebel flag in S.C., but this evil monster still has a statue on the Statehouse grounds.
