Tenzing Norgay: A genuine hero

I cannot express how great Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary were, as the first to climb Mount Everest. What an accomplishment, and what such very great persons they were.

Here they are on and after the summit:

And meeting up 18 years after their summit (their love for each other is impossible to miss!):

Just research their own history, both together and on their own, in terms of their dignity and their contribution to society, including AND after their 1953 summit of the tallest mountain on Earth. Two wonderful gentlemen, and the world, in every respect, is a better place because they were on it.

Here are two videos featuring Tenzing Norgay, with at least one of them being insane! But they are both worthwhile as they feature a real hero. And yes, Edmund Hillary too was great, and I so very much admire his life-long friendship with Tenzing and the work he did to help Nepal. Again, two heroes that everyone us should aspire to!:

A couple Dutch friends were trekking Nepal in the early 80's. They passed him coming in the other direction.

Edmund and Tenzing were the 1950s equivalent of Neil and Buzz....what I cannot get over is their friendship until Tenzing died in 1986 and what both of them did to better the world.

And they were so humble and normal about it.

Folks say that the world doesn't allow heroes to exist....well, these were two of the very greatest of heroes!

Pretty crazy stuff from 1959, but I guess this was the 1950s version of a reality show (spoiler: I thought #1 was an advance version of Dr. Strangelove!)

(On edit: the first segment is the one with Sir Edmund....no need to watch the rest. I find it remarkable that the three contestants (including Sir Edmund) were each also given a carton of Marlboro cigarettes (the show's sponsor), AND no one bothered to interview this absolute giant of a person! We got to hear more from the the other two fake Sir Edmunds. Also, four very interesting panelists!)
