Anyone notice how so many people are on drugs now?

Maybe I'm just in a really poor area but jesus christ, almost everyone I know and see around here are on some sort of drugs now. Either legal stuff or not-so-legal, they're all trying to cope with how shitty this world is.

be relevant or may interest you. It's called "Deaths of Despair and the Future of Capitalism" by Anne Case and Angus Deaton.

There are reviews in WaPo and the New Yorker easily found via Google.

It was written pre-COVID, published just as the pandemic started.
