https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_citiesI could type them all out, but the list is topped by Tokyo, and ends with Guadalajara, Mexico.
eta: You have to scroll down the page a little to see the list.

(47,460 posts)They have Paris as HUGE-- bigger than London in population. I'm ... surprised.
DFW
(54,325 posts)They are including that in the size, which explains the presence of Washington, DC on the list. DC proper doesn't even have a million people, but again, the metro area, including the Virginia and Maryland suburbs, is immense. Where I grew up as a small child was so far out in the Boonies that we only had unpaved dirt roads. "Go to the end of the world, turn right, and we're about 3 miles beyond that." These days, it's not even outside the Beltway.

(7,947 posts)I remember back in 1820, the essayist William Cobbett called it "The Great Wen".
I think a wen is like a pimple or boil.
Even more so now-- but I love London.

(2,522 posts)Three cities: Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
While I was in the Air Force: Tokyo, Manila, Bangkok, Saigon. I got to Seoul when my son was stationed in Korea.
I live in Texas so I get to Dallas and Houston regularly.
My youngest son was in Madrid for a summer so we visited him. On another European trip we went to Barcelona and Paris among other places not on the list.
We passed through London going to and from Ireland. We drove across the London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, Az, on the return trip from Los Angeles.
We made it to Atlanta, DC and Philadelphia on other trips.
Health permitting, we will get to Key West via Miami one of these days.

(54,325 posts)I have flown over some of the ones on the list, but have actually spent time in only nineteen of them. My wife and daughters have, interestingly enough, been to several cities on the list that I have never been to.

(54,325 posts)I have not been to Buenos Aires, Cairo or Beijing.
I have been to Barcelona (lived there, which is why I speak Catalan), Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Mexico City
Isn't it interesting--the biggest economic powerhouse in Europe, namely Germany, doesn't have one city on the list!

(54,325 posts)We are all doing well, thanks!
We were all together briefly in April in New York when our younger daughter managed to get enough work done so she could sneak over to America for 3 days to see her new nephew. We plan to meet up together on Cape Cod in July, too. As usual, she and her partner will probably working 80% of the time, but we will get in some real family time somehow. This time, the gang will truly "all be there," as my sister and her husband will be coming up, and even my brother, who is no longer required to kill us if he inadvertently blabs what he has been up to recently. He retired earlier this year, and gave up his top security clearance. I don't even think he misses it!

I lived in Tokyo for a few years...
The rest have all been in the US
Surprised to see DC on the list
My sister has been to a bunch of them.
She's currently an international law professor in Doha Qatar...Prior to the she was an international law professor here in the US.
She was also a Rhodes Scholar.
So, she knows people from all over the world.
She used to do this tour: Get invited to speak in India and Dubai. Dubai would pay her air fare. (Business class..LOL)
She would then go to India and speak over there. In India she would stay in 5 Star places. (India paid her accommodations, but Dubai always paid for her air fare no matter where she went on the way home)
She's been all over though...She also frequently goes to Japan and London.

Berlin should be on there, I think it's over 6 million, am I right?

(37,457 posts)Berlin certainly is a huge city. I am surprised it's not on the list, but maybe further down a bit.
