What small (or large) thing restores your faith in humanity ?

In the face of the usual dreck of life and especially the Trumpublican's rush to fascism, I think we all need the occasional or regular dose of refresh of faith in humanity.

I will give you one trivial one: I use a video-game-viewing service called Twitch. You can watch the games and other events for free, or you can pay $5 a month to gain extra privileges and avoid the recurrent advertising.

It is very common for TOTAL STRANGERS to donate $5 to your account to give you a month of extra privileges. These people don't know me from Adam's housecat. Yes, it's only $5 but still.... it's a very nice generous gesture.

What's yours ?

Humans can be so horrible sometimes, but sometimes they surprise us and show such kindness and mercy on their furry friends (and sometimes even on one another).

The comments on The Dodo youtube videos, also. There are so many kind animal lovers in the world.

There is a channel called meow meow where they feed and check on street cats in their city in Turkey.

I was going to say that. I put an ad on craigslist in the free section to give away extra tomato seedlings.

Everyone showed up but this one person, named "ion," who kept re-scheduling her pick up. This happened about five times. Finally she told me the reason she'd been having trouble is that a stray cat she has been feeding got in an accident and had a wounded paw. She was making sure he was getting his antibiotics twice a day.

Imagine: She had called her vet and gotten meds for a stray. Not only that was sticking close to home to make sure he got his meds.

So I told her to come whenever she could and I would give her some of my "extra special" tomatoes. These are tomatoes that are already about a foot tall, as opposed to the six-inch high ones I was giving away for free.

I said I'd be looking for a cat sometime in the next couple months, so please keep me in mind. Instead she said she had a plan to get him in the house before fall. I'm betting this kitty will have a pretty good home.

In an inspiring sense, if not restorative also. She and her work are a wonderful example.

It pays to be open to them whenever and wherever they occur.

I'm always thrilled by seeing a child get excited about a book.

Also must add my recently adopted kitty's Pet Rescuer who found her on the streets. The sweet little kitty had been dumped!

I have a small stand out by the road... I sell honey, baked goods and an assortment of product (lip balm, salt scrub, candles, salves, etc.) It is entirely self-serve with a box for money... in the past three years, I have never had anything stolen and often there is more money in the box than the amount equal to the purchases...

... received national attention from CBS for having a similar honor system, without anyone keeping an eye on their customers.

I think it was covered on the CBS Sunday Morning show in the 80's or 90's. CBS placed a secret camera in there which showed everyone paying for the candy they took.

Edit: I think it was a candy store in Lakeside OH.
