(2,268 posts)We had a lovely Maine coon cat for 14 years, until he passed. He showed up under our deck, and I started feeding him. He was homeless, no collar or chip. I eventually got his trust, took him to the vet for check up and shots, and brought him inside to live with our other cat, dog, and the rest of the family. He was very timid for a long time and didnt want to come downstairs, but he slowly got adjusted to all of us and became a loving member of the family. He never showed any interest in setting foot outside again, strictly an indoor cat. Boy did he shed, he needed frequent brushing, as he was prone to matting. I still miss him!

(21,425 posts)The only small Maine coon would be a young kitten. Since the one in this video is only a year old, he is not done growing yet.
I watched the video with envy. That cat was very well behaved considering all that was done to him. Just clipping the claws on my cat requires a sedative. She attacks combs and brushes and has slapped them out of my hand, accompanied by a warning hiss.
I am going to try using Felliway on the comb, brush, and general brushing area next time I try. And wear protective gloves.

(115,668 posts)My cat had to be sedated for grooming. She wouldn't have put up with a minute of what that guy endured.

(50,552 posts)I had three Maine Coon mixes. When you pick up a cat this big it moves around inside its skin, and that freaks the poor things out.
