Not really, anyway. In college at a party I was handed a joint. But like Clinton claimed, I actually did not inhale! Was already pretty lit on bourbon and was concerned about it’s effect. And I’m mid 50’s and she is 60. But we’ve talked about going out west and giving it a go. Probably edibles. The wife has never smoked. I’d actually appreciate advice.

I freely admit I drink too much and I know pot is not nearly as harmful as alcohol. Not really harmful at all if used in moderation.

7. One *tiny* puff off a cannabis vape device is how I'd try it if it were my first time

Like, suck in off the device for like 1 second, then pull it away, inhale regular air, and hold it in your lungs as long as you can, blow out, and don't do any more that day.

You might not even feel it the first time, that's not uncommon to be unaffected the first time (or two). If that happens (or rather, doesn't happen), try it again the next day.

I recommend that method for a first timer over smoking because of the harshness of 'smoke'. And edibles are harder to manage. They take a LONG TIME to take effect, and it's easy to have too much. Honestly I think edibles are more appropriate for people with some 'experience' with the high.

I know a few people who's 1 and only experience with THC was 'edibles'. They ended up really, really loaded ... it lasted a long time, and they didn't like it. I would acclimate with a bit of smoking/vaping first myself. See if you enjoy the effect. Taking edibles is more of a commitment.

Inhaling it, you're as high as you'll going to get within 20 minutes or so, and then you generally feel less and less so, like if you have a shot of booze.

When you eat it, you can end up just feeling more and more fucked up over what feels like a long period, and if you decide early on you don't like it, it's a little torturous, frankly.

I smoke cigars so it’s no problem.

Should we try it while out or in the hotel room? I know that for experienced folks it would be no problem if out and about. But not sure that’s our best option. And we are not young, although in good shape.

The wife tends to worry more than me. Although nothing crazy. I am wondering as she gets older if it could help her relax and unwind. Although after we retire hopefully she will not have as many worries.

Never thought we would consider it, but it is apparent that it can have some benefits. As we get older I guess we become open to more ideas.

9. Oh for sure for your first time I'd want to be somewhere safe-feeling until you know it affects you

You don't want to be at friggin Disneyland (just as a bad example) when the drugs kick in for the first time in your life

Otoh, being at an uncrowded beach late in the afternoon, waiting to watch the sunset would be cool.

Any chance she'd let you blow smoke or vape in her mouth after you took a puff and shared it with her?

I really recommend trying it in short-acting form, which 'inhaling' will be ... to see if it's a general feeling you enjoy ... before committing to edibles.

But if that's the only way for her, then find something that you're SURE is super-mellow for her to start with. And realize it can take like 1.5-2 hours to feel the full effect. So don't take more in a hour thinking it's not working, which is an easy mistake to make ... "gosh those brownies were tasty and I don't feel anything, lets have another!" are famous last words

So we will get some edibles and chill for a while one evening at the hotel.

Not sure when we might go. Might be a year or so before we make it out west.

19. Jerk gave husband too much his first time and he hated it, won't touch it now

Stupid jerk. He absolutely hated it, felt dizzy, nauseous, etc. So now thinks that's how it'd affect him and he refuses to try again, so that's that. Since he has sleep issues, it's a shame he won't try again, but once bitten twice shy, as they say.
