I heard that taking the top on & off was a pain in the neck.

(64,877 posts)...(he moved when he retired) had a car with a removable hard top. I'm forgetting which car. (I'm thinking Porsche, since he rebuilt a few old ones.)
He had a power winch on his garage ceiling so he could lift it to back out of the garage.
IIRC, it required a special tool as well.
It was definitely not a "press this button" thing.
Not sure if the T-Bird was easier, harder, or the same.

(13,872 posts)street was a hot rodder. He totally RUINED a '57 to make it a dragster.. 390 with headers, cam and two Holly 4 bbls... Ran like shit... Now when we took a 289 and stuck it into a Austin Healy 100/6 (ah la cobra) now THAT flew... That was fun...

(15,234 posts)Then American Graffiti came out and T Birds especially white ones went sky high and mine was gone. Wonderful car but very thirsty for a 22 year old to provide for, and I could not afford the insurance
