(12,154 posts)For the most part, I was not a big fan of office work during most of my wage-serf years. But office sign humor was often a great stress reliever and a mild form of rebellion that we all shared.
I remember at one job, somebody posted a sign by the break room sink reading "Please clean up your mess. Your mother doesn't work here!" That became a permanent fixture.
Then somebody else posted a sign saying "Please wipe all surfaces with Lysol after using!" and left an aerosol can of said antibacterial spray on the counter. (I should add, this was during a particularly frightening phase of the AIDS epidemic.)
Everybody knew who posted the Lysol sign, because there was one extremely conservative nutcase woman we worked with who was totally paranoid about working around gay men, and periodically would literally spray the air with Lysol all around her desk. The day after that sign went up, somebody added a sign saying "Your mother DOES work here!"
