And I have a memory of mowing the lawn thinking g about the Manson murders and those memories are from different houses. Now that I think about it the Manson memories were probably during the trial.

The moon landing of course, and, oddly, Chappaquiddick. There was a lot of yelling about that among my parents and their friends.

Woodstock and the others I learned about later.

I remember watching the moon landing live. Maybe some of the network coverage of Woodstock. Coverage of Camille, but not very much.

Most of that summer was spent on horseback since by the time I went off to college I had to sell my horse so I was gone from the house from before dawn until dark every day. So I didn't watch much news that summer.

how close together all of those events were.

The Moon Landing is, for me, the most important of them. I was working at DCA, National Airport in Washington DC at the time, as a ticket agent. I don't recall any specifics of that day, but I was working a morning shift, went home, and turned on my TV to watch the coverage. I was very grateful that the Moonwalk was moved up several hours, which meant I could watch it in real time. I needed to be at work at about 6am the next morning, so I clearly couldn't stay up very late.

But my memories of watching the coverage remain vivid.

Obviously, there was no TV there - let alone internets, LOL. But I do remember the moon landing, strangely enough. It was just luck that my friend Nancy and I were in the vicinity of the camp nurse's cabin at just the right time - and she happened to have a small b&w TV (probably the only one in all of camp) and saw us and invited us in to watch it! So I know where I was and will always remember seeing the moon landing.
