Eric Clapton is a selfish jerk

Eric Clapton’s Anti-Vaccine Diatribe Blames ‘Propaganda’ for ‘Disastrous’ Experience

"
Eric Clapton detailed his “disastrous” health experience after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine and blamed “the propaganda” for overstating the safety of the vaccine in a letter the guitarist shared with an architect/anti-lockdown activist.

Clapton previously shared his thoughts on the Covid-19 shutdown when he appeared on Van Morrison’s anti-lockdown song “Stand and Deliver” in December 2020; two months later, in February, Clapton received his first of two AstraZeneca vaccinations, he wrote in his letter to Robin Monotti, who shared the letter on his Telegram with the guitarist’s permission. (Rolling Stone has confirmed the authenticity of the letter. A rep for Clapton did not immediately respond to a request for comment.)"

What a sad and selfish turn for a great guitarist.

In Pattie Boyd’s autobiography, she details how, after he finally won her away from George, he cheated on her constantly and treated her like crap. His son that died was from the affair that finally broke up their marriage.

And for that he is out telling people to not get vaccinated. People who listen will be exposed to critical illness and possible death.

What an idiot.

the lockdowns were unfair to musicians who played live music. I know they were suffering from lack of work, but what did they want people to do about it? Did they expect us to open up the clubs where the musicians were playing? It was idiotic! I've heard that some musicians who play gigs were having a hard time getting unemployment, and I'm sorry for that. But to suggest that we should carry on as usual and let the virus spread as it would so that some people can keep making money is one of the most ignorant, selfish things I've ever heard.

...but he didn't want to work that hard. I look at a guy like Billy Strings who is an immense guitar talent but obviously nowhere near the name recognition of Eric Clapton. He just kept doing shows to empty auditoriums and broadcasting them through various internet outlets publishing them on spotify nugs.net etc. He did scores of shows from fall of 2020 through spring of 2021 when things started opening up.

I've always been a fan of Clapton's music but based on his initial reaction to covid I doubt even his honesty about his reaction to the vaccine. What an asshole.

Van Morrison has always been an asshole as well, but made great music.

Not surprised to see them together on this.
