Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI don't want to say that being a 'mom' to four kittens is tiring, but...........
I got them settled down by a little after 4. then I sat down. Then I WOKE UP at 6!! Honestly, I had no intention of taking a nap. The nap just kind of took me.
And I woke up to a loud chorus of what I'm interpreting to be "HOLD US!!!!!" "PLAY WITH US!!!!!" "FEED US!!!!"
To which I respond: "Yes, Masters and Mistresses!!"

(26,251 posts)One more round of play and then I'll get them set for the night.
Then tomorrow morning, usually at about 5:30, the whole routine starts, again. Feed Sophie, feed the ferals, feed the kittens, clean the play pen, play with the kittens, then feed me. Sophie appreciates the priority placement, when it comes to food.

(21,346 posts)in a discount store. It hangs on the wall next to a tall cat tree, two shorter cat stands that flank it, and a high, wooden scratching post.
It says, "The cat is in charge. We only live here."

(16,994 posts)I used to wait tables from 5-11ish. By the time I got home and asleep itd be between 3-4. Id end up sleeping til noon then not have time to really do anything. I started setting my alarm for 8:00 and have most of the day for whatever. Hit the beach, do some chores Then at 3:00 Id turn on Designing Women, set the alarm for 4:00 and have a nice nap before going to work.

(21,346 posts)She doesn't like loud or unexpected sounds. I used to set the alarm on an old, low tech, push button cell phone when I took a nap on the couch. I put the phone on the coffee table.
I woke up late and wondered why the alarm had not woke me up. I couldn't find the phone. I didn't have time to search so I left for work.
When I got home again, I looked under the couch on a hunch. There it was, but turned off. WTF, I thought. Did I do that in my sleep or was it the cat?
So I set the alarm for 2 minutes, put the phone on the coffee table, and waited. Soon as the alarm went off, kitty leaped on it, swatted it until the sound stopped, then grabbed it in her mouth, dropped it in front of the couch, and nudged it underneath with her nose. Stashing the noisy prey that she had "killed."
That's when I also realized why my regular alarm clock didn't work any more, which is why I was using the cell alarm.

(21,346 posts)He would put his nose in my face to wake me. If that didn't work, his next step was to tap me gently on the cheek with his paw. If that didn't get me up, he got serious - toe biting. That always worked.
The current cat does not wake me at all, not even for breakfest if I sleep in. She just waits until I get up. Then she's on me like white on rice, her face in mine, or pacing and staring accusingly at me until I feed her. If her dishes are not filled soon enough, she starts tossing things on the floor to make her point.

(26,251 posts)I wondered, this morning, how active they are at night and what time they actually get up. They were VERY quiet, this morning, but by the time I walked up to the play pen, they were climbing up the sides, and LOUDLY greeting me. Ok, more likely screaming FEED ME!!!!
They just ate, and are cleaning each other of what I missed. Sophie is fed, the ferals are fed, and if I can work up the energy, I'll be fed, soon. At least some coffee.

Would be fun, though. Glad that all are fed. Now mom can breathe for a minute.
