The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHelp me find the SOFTEST bath towels possible.
All my towels are old and really hard and rough. I'd love a couple of sets of plush, expensive towels that will not end up feeling like cardboard on our old, crinkled skin.
Please help us out with finding the best ones. Willing to pay extra for the really good ones.
Thank you for your recommendations!

(102,133 posts)It really is the best of my collection. It is a microfiber, maybe micro cotton...
That said, the best are supposed to be Turkish Cotton (expensive, for sure).
While I'd bet you can get them for less, here are the supposed "best" from Hammacher Schlemmer:

(70,021 posts)i had an aunt that was a buyer for marshall field's before she got married.
she was ever loyal to the store. she and my uncle didnt have a ton of money, but they still never bought a cheap thing in their lives.
towels were a thing w her. she gave me a lovely set when i got married the 1st time. i think i was still using them 20 yrs later.

(17,252 posts)Better yet .after trying many, many sheets including $ 400 Frette sheets I found the absolute softest ones on Amazon for $35 and ordered 3 sets. They are thin and might not last as long as heavier ones but they are so, so soft

If your water is hard, perhaps add some baking soda to the laundry. It helps dissolve the minerals and soften the cloth.
Costco has great towels at fair prices.

(14,811 posts)That makes them get stiff for some reason. When I found that out a few months ago I stopped & my old towels are even getting softer.
