I think there was a kill to one side of the watering hole. Now the lions are flat out sleeping and a little jackal is scoping out the situation. I don't think the lions will be happy if that jackal wakes them up!

(12,272 posts)LynneSin is going to want a lion now. I can see the male, sleeping. But I don't see a jackal. Jackal must be too smart to just walk up to the king of beasts and offer himself up for dinner. Thank you for the link, I can feel a little bit of Africa.

(34,120 posts)It's about 90 minutes since the last lion left. The hyenas and jackals moved in immediately and it took about an hour until the hyenas had scavenged all they could get out of the carcass. I was a Cape buffalo - I wonder if it was the one they showed the lions catching in the video:
Now it's just the vultures and they're not finding much.
On a different camera, there is a hippopotamus taking a nap in a pond in the rain. I wish I could figure out what things keep sticking their heads above water. Maybe turtles? There are quite a few of them.
The general web site is http://www.africam.com/wildlife/index.php and there are three different cameras operating now. I usually open the most interesting in separate windows to the side of my screen and if something exciting happens I make that window full screen.
