Years ago I was on my way home from work, and the streets were glare ice. There was a traffic light at the bottom of a hill, so I approached it very slowly so I'd be able to stop. So there I was sitting at the red light, and in my rear view mirror I saw a car coming down the hill way too fast for conditions. Of course she hit me. She told me she wasn't able to stop because of the ice, and asked if I had seen her. I said, yes, I saw her, but there was nothing I could do because the light was red. I guess she thought I should run the light and get hit by cross traffic to prevent her from rear-ending my car. 
She was young. Her car was very nice. Well, it was nice before she hit me. It didn't do a whole lot of damage to my car. I hope she learned an important lesson about winter driving that day.
