It was raining, this morning, so I was late getting the ferals fed. Holy Cow. Chaos ensued.

Mittens and Scooter were right at the door, meowing in a state of panic. Skittish was racing around in circles, and Spooky was in some sort of weird frenzy. Hey, guys, I was only about 15 minutes late!

I had to turn off the back yard Blink camera because they have started constantly setting it off at about 2:30, every morning, walking up to look in the living room window, I guess looking for me. Mittens is the most guilty. I know it's her because her white paws really show up on the night vision. She was wearing the batteries out! Time to reset the view, I guess.

Ah well. Nearly 3 hours into a very active morning, with many more to go. At least I don't have to take the time to comb my hair. Madoc is doing that, for me.

Very aware of the changing seasons. This will be his 12th winter living outside. I hope it’s a mild one. He seems to be pretty healthy and putting on weight for the winter, so keep my fingers crossed on that

There used to be a big opossum that would stop by, too, but I haven't seen it in quite a while.

She got video this summer of a box turtle racing up her drive to the ferals' food dish. I can't believe how fast he moved

I have muddy paw prints of the raccoon who visits here. They are on the lower portion of the French door in the front of the house. I laugh when I see them because I can tell he was watching me on my computer.

He doesn't come around much because I put the trash can in the shed now.

I put out food since the lady that owned the woods across the road from me had a logging company clear cut her entire property. It started out with 4 squirrels and a raccoon family eating bird seed. A possum joins them every night. Chipmonks eat the corn I started putting out for the squirrels in the daytime. I enjoy watching them but wish they still had their own habitat providing them food. I have no idea what happened to the flock of wild turkeys that made those woods their home. The bear that had a den over there went in the opposite direction and has been spotted a couple roads over raiding garbage cans and checking out grills. Most of the deer that used to live in those woods are now feeding with one of my neighbors cows in their pasture, something they never did before. Meanwhile, instead of a forest, I now have a view of land that looks like a bomb went off.

We'd see deer, almost every day. I'd watch them from the window by my desk. Then this 'infamous' local couple bought the land, claiming they were going to build an animal preserve. Buffalo, Elk, etc. They even posted a huge sign declaring what a great place it would be.

Well, I call them infamous because what they actually had planned was a MASSIVE new and used car lot. They paved over everything. He was a former mayor, despite being a convicted felon, so no doubt he knew which strings to pull, who controlled those strings, and what he had on them. The disgusting thing is, most of that paved over land was never used.

The deer relocated themselves to another nearby wooded area bordering a VERY heavily retail/residential area. Occasionally they are spotted in my neighborhood. I know they've been on my property. And when I was shopping, one day, I saw a flock of wild turkey in the parking lot.

So, no ferals for us. The lifespan of a cat outdoors around here is typically measured in months, not years.

But we do have a couple of raccoons who like dumping over my trash can every couple of weeks.

We definitely have coyotes around here. They're good at avoiding humans, but we've had sightings. Also heard them yipping and howling once.

What I don't see around here is feral cats. Now I'm wondering if there's a connection. 🤔

All 5 of our cats ..... ANNIE, TAFFY, INKY, SADIE and our boy SALLY were rescued.
Annie and Taffy were rescued from a metal recycling yard.

INKY, SADIE & SALLY ..... all 3 of these cats were Feral Kittens when he brought them home.
We got the Ink, Sad & Sal at 5 to 3 months, We fed all 3 from bottles and socialized them. all 5 of our kittens turned into 5 well adjusted, loving cats.

I bet with some love care etc, your kitter cats would be loving cats too. your cats sound so nice..... they are all very pretty also.
