The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsIt's taken since Saturday afternoon, but little Jean Luc has emerged from under the bed!
I mean, he's been out a few times when I was awake ... who knows what he was up to when I was asleep ... but overall, it took about 3 days for the baby to decide that it's safe to come out and explore in daylight hours.
He is absolutely stunning-looking, an utter love-bug, and soft as can be!
And perhaps most auspicious, he's down with hanging out on the 15" subwoofer while music is on (not LOUD or anything, but it was playing!)

(33,643 posts)I'm sure it's going to be great!
But I will have to train him to stay off the keyboard ... wish me luck

(33,643 posts)We'll have to find out over time, this was his first day-time venture out into the office/music area since arriving, so ... it's an open question.
But tunes at a normal volume didn't seem to disturb him at all, so that's awesome for our co-habitation!

(28,802 posts)Our dog used to love the stereo speakers.
Laid his head right in front.
He went deaf. I feel bad now.
Sorry about being a buzz kill.
Just wanted to give a heads up.
Love his handsome look.

(33,643 posts)and BELIEVE ME, there was LOT of LOUD music in my house over that 17 years
But he still had good hearing on his deathbed.
He definitely left (or didn't come in) the room if music was real loud. Unlike what dog might do.
And thanks ... yeah, not that I had anything to do with it, he was my late Aunt's baby, but damn he is a handsome bugger!

(13,538 posts)She would come out and jump on the bed and want to snuggle and get pets if I was on the bed. I tried to get her to chase the laser light out into the hallway and get her exploring, but she wouldn't fall for it.
I was watching football when this little head peeks out from under the couch and it was time to explore! The games on was probably why she came out. It was the longest time I'd gone without going in to see her.
Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)he'd stay close to me for 20 mins or so and get attention, then head back to his palace of solitude.
This was the first time I was just sitting here outside the bedroom and he just showed up and jumped on my desk, and hung out in the room for awhile and explored.
Blue Burmese are such pretty kittehs!

(4,115 posts)Excellent!
Most cats prefer the tighter low-end of a 12 sub, so its indeed a good sign Jean-Luc is gelling with the 15.

(33,643 posts)with a beefy 900W RMS amp, and it was calibrated with the outboard mic/Anthem Room Correction.
IOW, it's pretty damn tight for a 15", and I think Jean Luc appreciated it

(33,643 posts)in the coming days. He's 8 yo and had lived at my aunt's since a kitten, so this is a big change, obviously. Just letting him do his thing, on his schedule.

(113,055 posts)staying off the keyboard?? Good luck. One of my families of kits used to love playing the piano. Was a kick watching one standng on the pedals while another played interesting notes. My last family of kits also liked keyboards. .the computer kind. They actually sent messages, when they were not sleeping on the keyboards.

(16,273 posts)I love his name, too! It's a beautiful name in its own right, and as a long time Star Trek fan, I can't help but be reminded of Captain Jean Luc Picard.
I can't think many people that it would be cooler to share a name with, and I'm sure the Captain would be delighted to share his name with such a handsome guy!
Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)I can't claim credit for the name, but lets say when my mom suggested I take one of my late aunt's kittehs, I was like ... JEAN LUC! All over it!
The name was a definite plus, for that very reason you mention
