(3,647 posts)Riding in a capsule on a rocket straight up out of the atmosphere to an altitude above the Karman line, and then landing in the capsule about ten minutes later would certainly be the experience of a lifetime for most of us. But does that qualify a person for Astronaut status?
I have had Medallion status on Delta Airlines for years. Does that make me a professional pilot?
I've also been a passenger on cruise ships on occasion. Should I be considered to be a professional ship master?

(50,553 posts)Shatner is a TOS captain, and hes dressed in the correct uniform for his era.
The rest of the crew were born after TOS went off the air. In TNG, the command group wears red and the gold shirts are the cannon fodder. So, everyones okay.
Besides, its obvious the crew is having WAY too much fun here.
