(66,316 posts)Weird beyond belief, but very engaging and entertaining. All of the traditional JatB elements are there; Jack, the magic beans, the nagging mother, the beanstalk, and the giant.
Added to the familiar story elements are a drugged and delusional Princess, a sinister sorceress (the giant's mother), a talking (and singing) dog, and an eccentric musical score that combines piano jazz with a pastiche of 1970's-style rock opera.
If you can find in streaming or on DVD, give it a watch.
