Well, I finally caught COVID.

Not sure where I picked it up. Iím vaxxed and boosted and religiously wear a mask so Iím not quite sure how I got it. Iím nervous because I have many co-morbidities including cystic fibrosis, high blood pressure, diabetes, and apple-shape obesity.

Does anyone here who has had COVID have any advice as to how to minimize symptoms and/or increase comfort? Iím going to get the anti-body infusion later today.

1. Sorry to hear that

It seems this virus takes a different path on so many occasions. I don't have any advice, beyond good wishes for a mild case and speedy recovery.

4. I'm wondering if it's because many are wearing

The cloth masks and not N95 or KN95 Masks? Or, is this new variant more easily passed on surfaces? Hopefully, youíll just have mild symptoms and recover quickly!

2. Stay positive,

the antibody infusion will take care of you. As the Buddhists say, this too will pass.

3. Treat you symptoms as they arise with OTC cold/flu meds

Keep track of your temp and if it stays above 102 despite tylenol go to the hospital/urgent care

If you can monitor your pulse ox level do so. If you don't gave that doohickey check finger nails and lips for blue tint.

I had a breakthrough infection this summer, but don't really have any insights to offer.

Get well. You are in my thoughts

7. Antibodies is the best treatment you can get right now and you are already doing it.

Hopefully the infusion will take care of it.

9. Yes, I had it and got excellent advice from my advanced nurse friend.

I had oxygen issues (dizziness) which I reported to her and she got worried and we had many talks. First, she said dehydration is one thing that this really causes and it's critical to drink as much water as possible, but she also said a soft diet also provided a lot of liquids, so eat soup, pudding, stews, popsicles, ice cream - everything possible to add liquids to your insides. Also critical is moving around, and that's lots harder when you are dizzy. Every hour, except when sleeping, I had to get up and move around at least 5 minutes. I held on to the wall & furniture when it got bad. Get a pulse oximeter - very important, if you oxygen level gets to 82, go to the hospital if it doesn't bounce up to over 90 quickly. For some reason my body was very resilient and I got down to 80 (scary) but in 3 minutes it was up to 93, and it never got that low again - thankfully!

They now have pills for Covid plus Remdesivir as an IV drip, but those need to be taken early to be effective. They didn't have those when I got this a year ago.

10. Get that finger oxygen reader.

So you can visually check, and know youíre doing ok.

Let us know how youíre doing.

11. Best wishes. I haven't yet and am in your same category of health description as yours

(not the c. fibrosis). Am 74, shortness of breath, some dizziness. Am dreading it every day. Thanks for all the tips for coping.

18. Are you eligible for the infusion of monoclonal antibodies -

ask your doctor or local health department. I think it is just one infusion and may need to be done fairly soon after symptoms emerge. With your comorbidities, I think you're a good candidate.

19. I Can't Speak

for myself, but a friend's husband who had a bunch of bypasses two years ago got COVID, along with the entire family, all vaccinated, and he was just fine. I know this isn't the same, but he, too, had a slew of risk factors and he pulled through without incident. he's older than 65, too. Oh, and he had the antibody therapy.
