I'll never hear this from my dad again.

Dad passed last August after 92 years of a good life and I spent 3 weeks with him right before he passed. He was ready with no regrets so I’m not sad so much as feeling a bit lost since I’ll never hear his reply when I call and say like I always did ‘Hey Pop, it’s your favorite daughter’ and he would say ‘Hey Janet (my sister’s name!) how are you?’ with twinkle and a smile in his voice.

send each of us a xeroxed note saying, "Dear _______________, you are my favorite daughter. Don't tell the others. Love, Dad"
and he'd write in our names on the line.

Happy Fathers Day, Dear Old!

I miss him. I still called him Daddy and he still called me baby.

After being absent from my life for eight years, my idiot father spent the two hours he deigned to give me again calling me by a variation of my name, not my actual one. He wasn't doing it to tease me. He had forgotten my actual name.

Since I don't give out my name online, imagine having the name Mary and your father calling you Maria the entire time. That sort of screw up.

And he was the one who named me!
