I joined DU just to reply to this. I had no idea there is going to be a live action movie and enjoyed the trailer immensely.

The trailer looks great and seems they actually stayed true to the anime. Can't wait till it comes to DVD so I can order it.

Aug 2012

Since I haven't seen anybody that looks Shishio or even Kenshin's teacher, I'm guessing that the movie will probably go as far the Kenshin vs Saito fight. Maybe a bit further than that.

Since the anime was divided into 3 arcs, (if you don't count the OVA's) if this does well, there might be 3 movies.

I hope they give the actor amber contact lens to reflect Kenshin shifting to his "Battousai" persona on occasion.

Thanks for the welcome!

Here's a trailer for a PSP Rurouni Kenshin game being released this month. Here's hoping it sells well and and comes to the US. It looks like this game covers everything.

I'm debating on getting the Japanese version, even though I won't understand a thing.

I don't see anything or characters that resembles a special story line.

In case you didn't know, the character at 1:53 wearing the red, was introduced before. He was the main villain in he Rurouni Kenshin animated movie.

It would be cool if it was made into a PS3 game. Full environment and the possibility to make your own story.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-06-27/sankei-sports/rurouni-kenshin-manga-gets-live-action-film

The Sankei Sports newspaper adds that the staff aims to release the film internationally and eventually make a series. This will be the first live-action adaptation of the manga.

So if this does well, we will definitely see a sequel. Hopefully Shishio and Enisihi. And a prequel to go into detail about Kenshin's past. And maybe a spin off about his son and Yashiko.

Oh man this has me excited.

Found a review. Says it's really good.
http://kotaku.com/5938365/the-live-action-rurouni-kenshin-movie-is-a-nearly-perfect-film-adaptation

Going into the film I was expecting a mediocre, cheesy retelling of the Kenshin story, suitable only for diehard fans of the series. But Rurouni Kenshin completely blew away my meager expectations. It was not only a good adaptation but also a good movie in its own right. The sword fighting is amazing, the directing is brilliant, the casting nearly perfect, and the story is told correctly for its new, two-hour format. Simply put, aside from Gyakuten Saiban, Rurouni Kenshin may be the single best Japanese live-action adaptation I have ever seen.

I always thought the ending was too sad. And I personally found the animation rather awkward.

Sentai Filmworks announced that they have licensed 2011 anime OVA Rurouni Kenshin ~ New Kyoto Arc. Kazuhiro Furuhashi (the prior Kenshin anime, Chevalier D'Eon) directs the new adaptation of the samurai series' most popular storyline, based on a script from Mari Okada (Fractale, Wandering Son, Hanasaku Iroha). The title will be available next year on bilingual DVD & BD and through digital outlets.

Adult Swim now is not even a shell of its former glory. Before it sued to be Trigun, Inuyasha, uncut Yu Yu Hakusho. Now it's Robot Chicken, and Boondocks. Their not bad shows, but nowhere near as god as the old.

Well thankfully I have CrucnhyRoll now.

It looks like we’ll see more of Kenshin and the rest of the gang pretty soon.
In a recently-held XVIII Salon del Manga de Barcelona, Mediatres Studio, the Spanish distributor for the Samurai X film, surprised the attendees by revealing that a Rurouni Kenshin sequel has been greenlit.

Mediatres further explained that sequel, already in the works, will be “true to the manga.” Unfortunately, no other details have been revealed by Mediatres during the revelation.

Now if only the movie would come to the US on Blu-Ray...

If the first movie goes up to Saito, I'm guessing the sequel will split the Kyoto Arc in two. It's a big arc.

It would be interesting to see how they do the Ama Kakeru Ryu no Hirmakei and Kuzu Ryu zen.

They never showed Ama Kakeru Ryu no Hirmakei other than a small animation. As for Kuzu Ryu Sen, it was just the image of 9 blade tips.

I think they got a new Yahiko.

And the 2 sequels will cover the Kyoto Arc. No idea on who is playing Kenshin's teacher or Shishi-O.

I hope these two come to the US in more than cities like the first movie.
