We went and visited the great grandchildren over the weekend. The oldest one started Kindergarten last week. The second day we were there, she started with some sniffles. Probably something she picked up at school. Never got real bad and she's already over it. After we got home yesterday, I started to notice a mild sore throat. No fever, no aches, maybe a slight bit of fatigue, but even that is going away as I drink my coffee. Sore throat is gone, and my sinuses were a little blocked up when I woke up this morning. A benadryl pill is already clearing that up.
Hopefully, I'm one of those who gets away with mild brief symptoms because I've had four shots. My wife's symptoms are a little worse than mine, but she is resting comfortably. The good thing is, even if she has a rougher time than I am having, I feel well enough to take good care of her.

(9,534 posts)CDC reports that those who are unvaccinated have a 96% higher chance of dying from COVID than those who are vaccinated with two boosters. Odds are very high that you and your wife will have only mild or at worst moderate cases.

(8,329 posts)Mucinex, Sudafed, tylenol, and hydrate. They are not a cure for Covid, but there is no reason not to treat the symptoms and not feel as crappy as you might without meds. I hope you both have mild cases and quick recoveries!

(24,282 posts)to get Paxlovid. It's not that simple. They need you to show up in person so they can test you, and it's reasonable for them not to trust the testing we did on our own. So we did test positive, then the fun began. We spent an hour on the phone being interviewed by doctors at a remote location. Since they are not there, they have lots of questions to ask.
Like, what prescription drugs do you take? Simple with me, not so much for my wife. She's on prescriptions this doctor on the phone was not familiar with, so we get put on hold while he consults with another doctor. To make a long story only a little longer, Paxlovid would not be compatible with some of her meds. We did learn a lot, though. We will now wait and see for a few days. If things get worse, we will seek out Monoclonal Antibodies for her, and I'm feeling almost normal, so I decided on not taking an experimental drug that has not even been widely tested on humans.
Once again, thanks to every one for your well wishes and concern. As I said earlier, my wife is a retired RN. So she knows what decisions to make. We appear to not be in any great danger currently. Right now I feel good enough that my major concern is I have laundry to do, and fortunately, I feel good enough to do it.

(24,282 posts)Well, fortunately things haven't gotten any worse. Still no fever, body aches pretty much gone, sense of smell and taste still there. Very mild sore throat and sinus congestion. Still tested positive yesterday, will probably test again tomorrow. My wife is maintaining similar symptoms. She has mild Asthma, and her meds are doing a good job.
The main negative for me, is that although this is nothing worse than a mild head cold, I have not been sick in any way for over ten years.
