silver of silver coins I've been saving since the 60s.

(12,132 posts)it will be in the last place you look.
Yeah, you can be a smartass and keep looking after you found it but your heart won't be in it and it won't count in the real universe.

(6,011 posts)letting your abdominal muscles relax. Picture the bag as you lifted it. Say to yourself,
"I remember holding the bag of coins, and then I carried them to..."
Just putter around doing something else and a thought of its location might pop into your head.

(25,771 posts)wandering around looking for something and periodically forgetting what I was looking for:
- DAMN! what did I come into this room for? -
and when I find it, I set it down on my way back to where I was going to use it and then have to go through the whole process of realizing that I can't do the thing-a-ma-deal with out that thing-a-ma-jobber that I had gone to get in the first place. This goes on for, well for way too long ...
and then when I realize that my glasses were on my head all along, its time to go to bed.

(34,133 posts)But he found them when he finally emptied out the old house before it was demolished.
He'd put them in the old safe - one of those big things about the size of two coffins that looked like it should have been in an old West bank. He was just going to let the safe get hauled off along with the remains of the house, sure that he had emptied it, but my sister insisted he check it. Not only did they find the coins, they found other family 'treasures' such as my grandfather's photos of building dikes - possibly in New Orleans, maybe in an Army base in Louisiana - before World War I, letters and journals from a hundred years ago, and other odds and ends Dad had forgotten existed!
Then Dad remembered that before he bought the safe it had belonged to the first African-American owned funeral home in town that is now a museum of Black History for that area. So he called them up and offered it to them as long as they came and got it. They were excited to have the original safe to put back in the building.
I hope you find your bag of coins! Think about where you might have put them where they would have been safe.
