Very sad day for me today.

I just got back from the vet, I had to put my 17 year old orange tabby, Morris, to sleep. Iíve had him since I was 21 years old and heís been through everything with me. He slept on my bed every night and I donít know what Iím gonna do without him. Canít stop crying. RIP Morris, I love you and say hi to Emily, Natalie, Smokey and Tiger for me.

6. RIP, Morris. So sorry for your loss.

It's so sad to lose an old kitty - been through it a number of times and it doesn't get easier, but:

We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle; easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we would still live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan.

Another cat? Perhaps. For love there is also a season; its seeds must be resown. But a family cat is not replaceable like a wornout coat or a set of tires. Each new kitten becomes its own cat, and none is repeated. I am four cats old, measuring out my life in friends that have succeeded but not replaced one another. - Irving Townsend

29. I'm so sorry.

My first "in-my-own-place" pet was a yellow tabby that was born in my apartment. He lived to be almost 16, and was around for so many events and things.

When you look at pictures of other things while you had him, you might find the same thing I did. That even when no one was paying attention to my cat, he was always in the room with us, whatever the party dinner or other get-together was. Lounging under a table, or on the back of the sofa. Just content to hang out and be around.

It is so hard to lose that kind of friend and companion.

I know your sorrow. I've had many pets that passed to the other wherever. We are all of us of the nature to die. We cannot escape death. For those of us with old age pain and disabilities, death can be a blessed release.

You still have a loving heart. When you're ready, perhaps there's a cat that needs to share your love.

Best regards

My last kitty made it to 21. I'd kept her kidney disease stable, but the big C got her in the end. I adopted her as an adult cat, as I had her irascible tomcat companion.

You'll heal, you'll remember the good times, and that cat sized hole in your life will beg to be filled.

40. My Dear friend, I am in the same boat but with complications.

Last Friday, I had to have my very special kitty euthanized. It broke my heart.
She has had Vet treatment for years because of allergies. Over $3000 dollars in Vet charges. Last Wednesday she started to do some strange things. Crying, no use of litter box, strange posture and other things. I was concerned and called the Vet I used since I adopted her from a shelter in 2010.

The rest of the story: I called the Vet and told them something was wrong. I needed them to see what is going wrong. When I called, they were too busy to help me with an obviously sick kitty. They'd call me whenever someone was free. My kitty needed help.
I was very upset, after all these years with this Vet.

I called the other Vet in my town and they listened to what is happening and told me to come right over. Knowing that she was near the end, I asked if I could come in the AM. They were so gracious. I went Friday AM and they reviewed her records and what was happening. She was in the last stages of her life and was in severe pain. The hardest thing I could do was follow the advice of the Vet and have her euthanized. My heart is broken. She was my friend and companion since I adopted her in 2010 from a shelter. I know she was old and things happen but that does not make it easier when you have to make this hard decision. I can still see her as I met with the Vat for the final procedure.
I loved this special cat as you all do with your pets. Everyone says it was for the best but my heart is broken.
My sympathy to you, I know what you are going through.

...or when Mother Nature has beaten us to it, we have decided to call it liberating the spirit. Somehow the softer wording helps a tiny bit.

And when we have welcomed a new kitty, we always refer to them successors, never replacements.

Here is a cyber hug - ((((( >^..^< )))))

My kitty is 22 and I worry every day she will go quietly in her sleep. But it will be ok since she's loving her life and lived so long.

But every pet is part of our heart and that makes it so hard to say goodbye.

Remember, your love isn't gone, just the object of your affection.

64. It is especially hard when you have been together for so long

Seventeen years!!! I had a beautiful boy (Lilac Tipped Siamese mix), he was with me for 19 years. I got him at a pet store in LA. We went through a lot together. LA, SF, Hawaii, then back to Marin. He was my best buddy. I had to put him down due to tumors in his urinary track. It was the hardest thing I ever did, but I could not stand to see him suffer. I wept for days, I was a basket case. Just now I felt a tang of grief just now thinking about him.

After that, I saw this sweet homeless lady in San Francisco who was in a wheelchair in the City. She had a litter of Siamese kittens in her lap (on her wheelchair). I gave her some money to help her out and I thought I was getting a boy (another Siamese mix), but she turned out to be a girl. I named her Wyrmina (but I called her Mina) because when I took her to the vet she had 2 kinds of worms, AND ringworm (which I got, but my doctor helped me get rid of it). She was the sweetest thing! There is nothing like Kitten Joy!. She was with me for 17 years. I miss her terribly.

The only think that helped me to fill the gaping painful hole in my heart was going to the rescue and finding another kitty to love. I got lucky! My new boy, he was 8 months when I got him and is 3 years now. He is a Tuxedo. I love his personality!!! He reminds me a lot of my first boy, but he likes to cuddle with me more. (usually they are not that much into cuddling until they get older).

Anyway, it is probably too soon to think about, but knowing how many animals are in our shelters, a loving home is a lifesaver for them, if you have one to offer. I think rescued animals appreciate their humans more. It is kind of funny, but when I was in the shelter looking at the kitties that they had, this boy did a major double-take when he saw me, and he was very playful. I knew right away and I just had a feeling that he was the boy for me.

*HUGS*

😭😭😭Sending you deepest condolences! I like to think my darling departed long haired black & white tuxie kitty boy Murphy is with your precious Morris right now, fixing him a plate of filet mignon, showing him around, running free, like young kitties on the soft green grass, no pain, their fur flying in the sweet breeze. My heartís with you especially at this unbearably, excruciatingly painful time. We will see them again one day, and boy will that be the happiest reunion ever.

69. I'm so sorry.

Nothing is sadder than losing a beloved pet.

I'm crying with you.

70. I'm so sorry this moment had to come.

Iíve been through it, myself.

Morris will undoubtedly meet up with Ernie, Barney, Betty, and the gang. Heíll have lots of friends at the Rainbow Bridge.

And youíll have us here, for sure.

72. So sorry for your loss. Our kitties are one dependable constant in our lives. More dependable

than friends or even family. They are always there for us. I believe they will be there waiting to reunite with us, when our time comes. Hugs for you
In time the tears will be replaced with a smile when you think of him. Take extra special care of yourself during this stressful time.
