I'm thinking pears and sharp cheddar cheese. With freshly picked tomatoes. Does that sound good?

(68,644 posts)Not all in the same salad, but things I like include shaved romano cheese, feta, spinach (yum), pine nuts or slivered almonds, green olives!

(149,571 posts)I made a marinated salad--my 3 bean salad--recently, and it was a hit. I'd lost the recipe and then found it.
It has to marinate for at least 8 hours, but oh boy, it's worth it. And it keeps for days too.

(11,910 posts)Serve over lettuce. For dressing, I used Newmans balsamic
vinaigrette mixed with a tblsp (or less) of honey.

(36,827 posts)I like using fresh and/or dried fruit. This time of year is especially great for fresh fruit like strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, and blueberries, so I use those a lot in the summer and I tend to use more dried fruit and mushrooms in the winter. I also like using either pine nuts, sesame seeds, or toasted walnuts. When I use fresh fruit I like to puree some of it and incorporate that into a homemade vinaigrette.

(46,179 posts)anything but iceberg, and spinach is a must. Red onion. Fruit; pears will work. Nuts: walnut, cashew...
Cherry tomatoes or some sort of tomato small enough to not need cutting. Fresh mushrooms. Some black olives. Fresh asparagus tips. Sharp cheddar is fine.
Sounds great.

(10,095 posts)Hi,
This sounds interesting, we don't have Costco but I will be going to a city that does shortly. Is it a giganto container of the stuff or smaller?
Peace

(14,274 posts)It costs around 11 dollars. We get nine servings out of it when we mix it with cucumbers.
It is delicious!

(25,771 posts)People call their grandparents by all sort of nicknames:
Mammaw, Gappy, etc. We always called my mother's mother Gummy. This is the way she made salad:
Sliced lettuce
sliced or diced tomatoes
Mayonnaise (Hellman's is best)
and sugar
Toss well.
That is Gummy salad. I love it, as does my wife. We also put it on hamburgers. It would work well on BBQ. I'm considering putting pinapple juice in it and serving it on a home grilled hamburger with a slice of terriyaki marinated grilled pinapple.
Gummy Salad - good stuff.
