(63,172 posts)Suffice it to say that the family made a very specific request regarding donations in the name of the deceased, and the committee here at work said, in essence, "well, we want to do this instead."
Regardless of the worthiness of the gift itself (which I question in any case), it directly contradicts the express wishes of the family. For that reason alone I find it insensitive at best and flat-out inappropriate at worst.
Whatever the wishes of the committee, they should defer to the family in this matter.
Even if the gift itself is excellent and in good taste, people should respect the family's wishes.
